HIGH FLYING ALLIANCE: MARA Director-General, Datuk Nam Marthinin (right) exchanges documents with MAS Director of Operations, Datuk Tajuden Abu Bakar. Witnessing the ceremony are Minister of Enterprenuer & Co-operative Development, YBhg. Datuk Noh Omar (second from left) and Chairman of Asia Pacific Flight Training Datuk Faruk Othman.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) will provide financial assistance to aspiring pilots who have been offered by Malaysian Airline System Berhad (MAS) to be their cadets trained at Asia Pacific Flight Training (APFT).

Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister, Datuk Noh Omar said each student can apply for a RM200,000 loan and are required to pay back the agency once they are employed and earning.

"This scheme helps financially tight students as well as churn good quality pilots who can work with airlines in the world and make Malaysia proud", Noh told reporters in Selangor yesterday after awarding 46 graduate pilots from APFT their "wings".

The allliance between MARA and MAS also involves flying school APFT and is the first of its kind to offer cadet pilots financial assistance.

MAS Operations Director, Datuk Tajuden Abu Bakar said the partnership is in line with the national carrier's business transformation plan to forge alliances.
